The ABC's of Touring

The ABC’s of Touring is designed to get you out on your bike and covering some ground. Entries must be from a current HOG member and Sioux Falls Chapter member and must be for one person only. If a full and an associate member both wish to enter, each must submit separate entries.

Entries must include a photo of the following:

  • Your Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
  • A current year issue of HOG Tales.
  • You - in at least one photo.
  • An “official sign” (see explanation below)
  • Entries must include a list of each city, county, state, province, country or event. You may use the ABC’s form located in your Touring Handbook or at J & L. Photos in front of H-D dealers must have the name of the city written on the back of the photo.

Chapter recognition will be a little less stringent than the national requirements. All the Sioux Falls chapter entries will require photos at locations that begin with the following letters:

An “Official Sign” is defined for both chapter and national recognition as:

  • A sign posted by a government body, which lies within the boundaries of the place it identifies. Mileage markers or directional signs are not allowed.
  • Government building with the name of the city or state on them, such as post offices, police stations, etc.
  • An authorized Harley-Davidson dealership may be used to designate a city. However, you will be credited for the first letter of the city where the dealership is located. For example, a photo of “J & L Harley Davidson” would give you credit for the letter “S” because our dealership is located in Sioux Falls, SD.

Some Additional Criteria:

  • For the Sioux Falls Chapter contest you only need to be in one photo. This is to encourage all riders (including those who ride alone) to participate in the local contest.
  • The name of the dealership, village, city, county, state, country, etc. must appear legibly in the “official sign” in the photo to receive points (national) or letter (Sioux Falls Chapter).
  • You must ride your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Trailered bikes don’t count.
  • Entries must be turned in by the November Membership Meeting.
