Meet the Team

At Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson, you’ll find a knowledgeable, professional and friendly staff that have true passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the people who ride them.

"I just wanted to send you a note about the crew in Watertown. We had a need for parts and advice during the HOG rally. We just wanted to relay to you that your staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We were very pleased with the friendly and knowledgeable treatment we were given. To say the least, I was impressed!" Roger from Sioux Falls

Justin

Manager, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Justin grew up in western South Dakota, in Martin, and refers to his home area as “The Motherland”. (We’ve heard stories about out there.) He attended the University of South Dakota and loved it so much, he went with the 5 year plan for his degree in Business Management. (What that really means is that his volunteer time at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity extended his education by a year.)

His Business degree and Harley-Davidson training helps him feel comfortable managing Glacial Lakes and the great bunch of Harley roadies that he works with.

Justin admits that all customer interactions are important, but one of the most satisfying and memorable is when he sold his big brother his first bike.

Justin has been with the J&L and Glacial Lakes family since 2005 and admits he doesn’t have a lot of free time, but when he does, you can find Justin on his 2006 Sportster XL1200 Custom, tearing up the pavement with his buddies and spending time with family.

Justin’s preferred state of mind is that life is better in flip flops. (We’ll agree with that!)

Dave F.

Service and Parts Manager, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Originally from Kalamazoo, MI, Dave has also spent time in Montana, but decided to settle down in Watertown, SD. (Lucky for us!)

Educated at MMI in Phoenix, Dave is an Expert Certified Technician. He’s been around bikes for a long time and is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, with his favorite being going full throttle on the strip or on the street.

Even his favorite customer memories reflect this. Dave loves watching the faces of people that just got a Big Bore kit installed and seeing the look of fright and fun all mixed together. It makes him smile knowing he had a part in that.

Dave’s current ride is a 1991 Harley FXR, but he’d love to have a 1948 Panhead FLH.

A family guy, he gets a kick out of spending time with his wife and kids, but also enjoys fishing and hunting and, of course, riding. He says his best rides were in Arizona and Michigan.

Jim

Motorcycle Sales Associate, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

A self-professed graduate of the School of Hard Knocks, Jim was born in Cleveland and raised 40 miles away in Ravenna, Ohio. He has a broad background, having taken several military courses, being trained in broadcasting and leadership and completing all necessary education to be certified Master Level in Harley-Davidson Sales.

He believes that life is a good teacher and walks the walk of “We live to ride another day- we can’t change yesterday, but we can change tomorrow.” (Sounds liked pretty good advice to us.)

Even his favorite customer story is reflected in this outlook. A gentleman came in the store looking at bikes and shared that his wife would never have let him get a bike before, but she had just completed cancer treatment and told him to go get himself a bike because she wanted to really live. The best part? A year later, she has her own bike, too.

A fun fact about Jim: He used to participate in demolition derbies.

Jim has spent the majority of his life on a motorcycle, over 34 years, and currently enjoys hitting the road on his Heritage Softail Springer, taking long rides with his wife, going camping with friends and family, and spending time with his grandkid.

Skie

MotorClothes Sales Associate, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Born in a town just outside the Twin Cities, Skie spent her childhood growing up in South Shore, SD. Skie has her Associates of Applied Science in business marketing and sales management and uses this knowledge throughout her day at the dealership, making sure things run smoothly allowing her more time with each customer.

It’s a small world, but Skie didn’t realize how small until she was chatting with a customer recently who turned out to be from the town where she was born and that her uncle did several of the gentleman’s tattoos. (His MOM tattoo was pretty sweet.)

Whether it’s cruising around on her 2012 883XL Sportster, shopping for teapot cozies or spending time with her family, Skie lives by the motto that “life is too short” and tries to make the most of each day.

Scott

Parts & Accessories Specialist, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Scott was born and raised in Watertown and to our benefit, decided to stick around.

His Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and 20 plus years of riding experience helps him connect with his customers. And, like most of us, he enjoys helping every customer and hearing all their stories, experiences and sharing his own. In Scott’s down time he loves spending time with his two daughters, photobombing people’s vacation pictures and expanding his Monthy Python repertoire.

Jana

MotorClothes Sales Associate, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Jana grew up in Ranchester, WY right next to the Big Horn Mountains and moved to South Dakota for new scenery.

She appreciates working with people who have the same interests as her (such as stamp-collecting and correcting other people’s grammar) and really loves that she and her customers know each other and often are on a first name basis. (Norm!)

Jana’s background in retail sales help her connect and understand what her customers are wanting and needing. Jana knows that life is what happens while you’re making other plans, so enjoys her busy life as wife, mother to 4 kids, and volleyball coach. When she has a few moments to herself, Jana loves riding her 1200 Sportster and honing her parkour skills.

Ron

Parts/Shipping & Receiving, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

As one who enjoys going against the status-quo, Ron was born and raised in Cheyenne, WY and loves it there "because nobody else does".

Ron loves working with his hands and making things work and fit, especially if someone else said he couldn’t do it. Ron’s proud that he’s a self-taught knuckle-buster who learned the ins and outs of motorcycles by getting down-and-dirty and hands-on in back-alley garages. Ron understands the importance of helping customers reflect themselves and their stories in their bikes. He also understands the importance of making sure customers know and understand the features of their gear and accessories.

A while back, a 90-year old woman came into the store with a half-helmet looking to buy a face shield for it, since she had just come from California and her eyes were now really sensitive. Ron showed her there was one built into the helmet she had on, protective film still intact. The woman laughed and told him she’d had "this #%$@! thing for 3 years and never knew it was there!"

Riding for 40 years, Ron has many bikes and enjoys them all.

Fun (or possibly odd) fact about Ron: He once lived under a bridge for 7 months just to see if the girls in Florida were really it was really anything like the 1983 movie, Spring Break. He said it was worth every minute.

Deb

MotorClothes Sales Associate, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Originally a Hoosier, Deb grew up in small town southern Indiana. (Literally, it’s so small it doesn’t show up on Google.)

Deb’s enthusiasm for riding and making sure new riders have the right gear is part of her charm. Her business and customer service background taught her the importance of making the whole riding experience fun for everyone.

Recently, a customer had just purchased his first bike and Deb was helping outfit him for the road- jacket, helmet, gloves- the essentials. But she couldn’t get him talked into a pair of leather chaps. Deb promises "He WILL be back!" Deb’s been riding anything with horsepower for over 38 years. Including a mechanical bull, a 1958 BMW Isetta 300, and a runaway camel. And, of course, her 2011 Heritage Softail.

Nic

Service Technician, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Nic comes to us from small town USA. (Midland, Michigan to be exact.) He attended MMI in Phoenix and was educated on both Early and Late Models.

His current motorcycle of choice is a 2004 FXSTBI Night Train, which he had hydro-dipped camouflage. (How does he find it to ride it?)

In his spare time, Nic loves having tea parties with his daughter and enjoys being outside doing manly things like hunting, fishing and camping.

Kudos: "I was able to take advantage of the 20/20 program to add a lot of chrome to my bike. Nic was extremely helpful through the process...the entire staff was great to work with. I really walked away with a great experience and feel at home at Glacial Lakes." - Paul

Eric

Service Technician, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Eric grew up on the other side of the tracks in Watertown, SD. He headed south to MMI in Phoenix where he graduated with and has completed all his HDU training and is an Expert Level Technician. He returned to South Dakota because the hunting and fishing in Arizona had nothing on his home state.

One of the cooler bike jobs he’s done was installing a chrome frame on a Heritage Softail and then having it win 1st place in a bike show. (Was there ever any doubt?)

Eric’s been riding for over 18 years and being comfortable in his manhood, Eric chooses to ride his wife’s bike, a 1992 FXR. A philanthropist of sorts, Eric once donated a foot of hair to Locks of Love. His current project? Knitting booties for the neighborhood dogs.

glhd_mitch

Mitch

Service Technician, Glacial Lakes Harley-Davidson

Mitch grew up in frozen-tundra of Sioux Falls and hightailed it for Phoenix to attend MMI as soon as he could and graduated with certifications in Harley-Davidson, Honda, and BMW motorcycles.

A non-conformist of sorts, Mitch once took a muffler and said, “This looks like a great oil tank” and promptly finagled it into one. That makes us wonder what magic he could do with a tailgate, a HotWheel and an ice cube tray.

Anything outdoors is Mitch’s niche- hunting, fishing, sport shooting and riding his 1997 Dyna SuperGlide anywhere with a great view. (He loves to feel the wind in his beard.) But, he also loves spending time with friends and family, building model cars or playing video games.

His dream bike? A 1947 Knucklehead.

A George Carlin fan, Mitch’s favorite quote is “Some people see things that are and ask why. Some people dream of things that never were and ask why not. Some people have to go to work and don’t have time for all that.”
